A marvellously scenic ruined fortress in a magnificent location under the brooding bulk of Quinag, Ardvreck Castle (Aird Bhreac in Gaelic) is a 15th-16th century L-plan fortified tower house and the traditional seat of the MacLeods of Assynt. The castle was constructed by Angus Mor III in the late 15th century, perhaps in 1490.
